The legend of Puheke
We had to re-write the story of how the place got its name either by doing a google doc, an animation or a Google slide. My favourite part was reading how the place got its name the hardest bit I found was re-writing the story.

About me 2018
We had to make a DLO of something that we liked. I did it all about me for 2018, because I love myself! My favourite part was writing about myself. Do you share any of the same interests as me?

Garden quote
This week in class we had to make a meme and a quote about gardens. At first, I thought "ahh, this would be hard" but turned out it wasn't. My favourite part was looking at all the other garden quotes and making my own with some ideas.

garden meme
This year we have been learning about 'Vegetable Gardens'. In class this week, we had to make a meme about vegetables. It was a very fun task to make. I enjoyed putting together different words to make my meme.

book review - ways to live forever
In class, we made slides for a book review as part of Book Week. It was very fun. At first, I couldn't think of a book to do the book review on, so I decided to do 'Ways to live forever' written by Sally Nicholls. I really like it, even though it was a sad book, I like sad stories to read.

Persuasive speech
In class, we had to make speeches to share with the class. I didn't really enjoy delivering my speech in front of the class (because I'm a bit shy), and I didn't know what to write. Finding facts and information helped me to write my speech.
Is the plastic problem really that bad?
Is the plastic problem really that bad?
Plastic or no plastic it’s your choice. It’s time to think about our actions towards plastic. Is the plastic problem really that bad?
Think about it! (give the audience 5 seconds to think)
Think about it! (give the audience 5 seconds to think)
Yes, I believe so.
Every day in America they use more than 500 million straws a day, that's enough straws to circle the earth 2.5 times! Plastic straws are very hard to recycle as they are most commonly made from type 5 plastic or polypropylene. Even though type 5 plastic can be recycled it isn’t accepted by most curbside recycling programs. Which means we can’t put straws in recycling bins. When plastic straws aren't recycled they go to landfills or even worst polluting our oceans. Plastic straws take up to 200 years to degrade, but will never be fully off our earth.
And that was only 1 country 1 country, imagen how many straws that would be with all the countries. Do you know how many countries there are (give the audience 5 seconds to think), there are 195 countries in the world. That would be a lot of straws in one day!

About 8 million metric tons of plastic enters our ocean each year.
Oh well too much plastic look around us there’s a plastic lunch box, plastic water bottle, plastic pen and we can’t do anything about it because we are just kids… wait to hold on let me rethink that, actually we can do something about the plastic problem it might not solve it but it might` just slow it down by using the 3rs

Number 1. Reduce. For example: if your trying to choose between two things choose the one with less plastic packaging.
Number 2. Reuse. For example: When you buy a plastic pump bottle, when you finish it, don’t put it in the bin straight away instead you can reuse that bottle at home for lots of different things
Number 3. Recycle. For example, you can make a big difference by just putting that one soda can in the correct bin.

Now, remember 1. Reduce. 2. Reuse. And 3. Recycle. It can all make a difference in our world!
It starts now, from today because we are the next generation with less plastic!

Oh and the question I asked before if the plastic problem really that bad, well the answer is yes!

Flash fiction
In class last term (term 2), we made flash fictions. Flash fiction is a fast-paced narrative. We had to use the prompts music, chain and rose. I really enjoyed creating it but had a hard time thinking what to write about, especially trying to include the prompts. I was very happy with my writing when I had finished.
Brother
I was sitting all alone in my room one rainy day, listening to the music box my brother gave me for my 9th birthday when I started to relive that tragic day.
The day was filled with so much fun and laugher. “Ahhh!” I screamed as I went around on the roller coaster with my brother behind me. I hopped off the rollercoaster and leaped up into his arms to hug him. “This is the best birthday ever,” I cried. “Don’t ever leave me. I love you with all my heart.”
My brother slowly started to reach into our bag, within seconds he pulled out something wrapped up in wrapping paper “this is for you,” he said. “Thank you,” I cheered giving him a big hug. I gratefully took the present and started to open it. It was a music box with a rose inside of it. “I have something to give to you too,” I said. Out from my pocket, I pulled out a golden chain and a green stone. “Thank you,” my brother said. He put on the golden chain and held the green stone in his hand.
We went on one more ride. After the ride, he said he didn’t feel so good. Within seconds he nearly fell over. I tried telling him to let go of the green stone. But it was too late. He was gone. With tears running down my face, I knew my brother's mana wasn’t strong enough for the stone. As I held my brother in my arms, I carefully gave him a kiss on his head. “I’m so sorry brother,” I whispered to him.
By now the song from the music box had repeated, and my aunt had called me to go and have afternoon tea. Before I left, I noticed my brother's golden chain and green stone I got for him sitting in the music box. I grasp them and hold them close to my heart wishing he was still here.
