Is the plastic problem really that bad?
Plastic or no plastic it’s your choice. It’s time to think about our actions towards plastic. Is the plastic problem really that bad?
Think about it! (give the audience 5 seconds to think)

Yes, I believe so.
Every day in America they use more than 500 million straws a day, that's enough straws to circle the earth 2.5 times! Plastic straws are very hard to recycle as they are most commonly made from type 5 plastic or polypropylene. Even though type 5 plastic can be recycled it isn’t accepted by most curbside recycling programs. Which means we can’t put straws in recycling bins. When plastic straws aren't recycled they go to landfills or even worst polluting our oceans. Plastic straws take up to 200 years to degrade, but will never be fully off our earth.
And that was only 1 country 1 country, imagen how many straws that would be with all the countries. Do you know how many countries there are (give the audience 5 seconds to think), there are 195 countries in the world. That would be a lot of straws in one day!

About 8 million metric tons of plastic enters our ocean each year.
Oh well too much plastic look around us there’s a plastic lunch box, plastic water bottle, plastic pen and we can’t do anything about it because we are just kids… wait to hold on let me rethink that, actually we can do something about the plastic problem it might not solve it but it might` just slow it down by using the 3rs

Number 1. Reduce. For example: if your trying to choose between two things choose the one with less plastic packaging.
Number 2. Reuse. For example: When you buy a plastic pump bottle, when you finish it, don’t put it in the bin straight away instead you can reuse that bottle at home for lots of different things
Number 3. Recycle. For example, you can make a big difference by just putting that one soda can in the correct bin.

Now, remember 1. Reduce. 2. Reuse. And 3. Recycle. It can all make a difference in our world!
It starts now, from today because we are the next generation with less plastic!
